Porcelain Crowns

Crowns often referred as "dental caps" or "tooth caps" are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully covers the portion of a tooth which lies at or close to the gum line. Even though gold crowns have been very strong and successful, the most popular crowns today are the porcelain crowns.

Using a metal substrate underneath the porcelain gives the crown an increase in strength without have the unattractive metal showing. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of the tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth´s outer surface, making a weak tooth stronger and more beautiful. Cosmetically, by encasing the entire coronal portion of the tooth, it allows you to make major changes on the entire shape or color, giving your smile virtually any change you desire. Crowns can be used to fill in larger gaps, correct overlaps or crowded teeth, correct severely discolored teeth, and repair severe fractures.
