Dr. Mark Chia-Lun Tsao, DDS
Dr. Tsao was born in Taiwan. When he was 12 years old, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Cerritos, CA. He graduated from Cerritos High School in 1996 as the valedictorian of his class and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland in 2000. He has always had an immense interest in the healthcare fields, but also harbored a passion for art and technology, so he ventured to the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked as a web developer and graphic designer. Although he found his work rewarding, he missed the close personal relationships and privilege to work on the human body that are unique to being a healthcare provider. After careful research, he decided on a career in dentistry and never looked back. In 2007, he graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry among the top of his class. He earned numerous awards for his academic achievements and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
After graduation, Dr. Tsao pursued additional training by completing a residency program in general dentistry at the VA hospital in Long Beach, where he treated our country’s veterans. Dr. Tsao then began his career as an associate dentist at several practices in Los Angeles County and Orange County. When his fiancée finished her training as an ophthalmologist and found a position in Oakland, CA, Dr. Tsao relocated to Northern California and happily married the love of his love.
Dr. Tsao and his wife enjoyed successful careers in Oakland, but always longed to return to Southern California where they both grew up. In 2015, Dr. Tsao and his wife happily moved back to Cerritos, and shortly after, Dr. Tsao joined Dr. Martinez’s successful practice. Dr. Tsao was drawn to Dr. Martinez’s practice because they share the same dental philosophy – they strive to build long-lasting partnerships with their patients that are based on honesty and personal, gentle dental experiences.
Dr. Tsao remains committed to honing his knowledge and skills by regularly attending continuing education courses and study clubs. He is a member of the American Dental Society, California Dental Society, and Orange County Dental Society. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, playing sport, and cheering on the Lakers.
